Celeb Look of the Week: Louis Vuitton fashion week arrivals in Paris

Louis Vuitton fashion week arrivals in Paris are the celeb look of the week!
I was looking for pictures to post for the look of the week, but there were so many great arrivals at the Louis Vuitton pret-a-porter show this week in Paris, I couldn't do anything but name the arrivals list as looks of the week!
My favorites were:
LEIGHTON MEESTER:

There's a lot going on here with the socks and the open shoe sandals, but Leighton's got the legs to pull it off. I love the wild coloured dress, and the little sweater over her shoulders helps to tone it down a little.

DAISY LOWE (British model):

I love her shoes, they are just so cute with the bow! Also, the look is a modern, sexy and feminine twist on a tuxedo. Love it!

Miranda Kerr:

First of all, I think whatever Miranda Kerr wears always looks fantastic just because she's drop dead gorgeous. On someone else, this dress could've looked dainty and like a curtain, but Miranda pulls it off with her poise! She gives this dress a young hip look... Like a breath of fresh air!

A very pregnant ADRIANA LIMA:

Okay, she looks amazing for a very-pregnant woman! How is she standing in those heels with that extra weight? Anyway, I love the dress, it's very feminine and soft. Makes me think of the dresses that are sculpted in statues of Greek goddesses... In this case, Brazilian Goddess!

KATY PERRY:

Love this look. The luster of the material (metallic look) and semi-geometrical shapes at her shoulders give a  futuristic take on ruffly blouses. The matching headband is adorable. Notice that she didn't wear a necklace or anything around her neck; a necklace could've potentially been too much bling to match the shirt or could've taken away from the shirt's effect. Not sure how I feel about the shoes... The one-glove is cute - homage to MJ?

VIRGINIE LEDOYEN and GONG LI and a ONE-LUCKY DUDE:

I just love ruffles and femininity in clothing! I love what Virginie Ledoyen is wearing!!! Check out Gong Li's shoes!!!

By the way, this is what the runway at Louis Vuitton Pret-a-porter Spring/Summer fashion show looked like:

Yikes! Very Marc Jacobs IMHO... ;)

The latest fall/winter collections : Re-discovering Tristan

Re-discovering Tristan after it lost America and lost Iseut
I was shopping for a dress at Fairview this weekend and after a few shops, my friend suggested we take a look in Tristan.

Ok, I have to admit I didn't really think I was going to find anything at Tristan. I hadn't been in Tristan in ages, since as far as I could remember, it was clothing way beyond my age and budget (ok I admit I'm at least 5 years older now and working, but what I mean is that it's stuff my mom would wear).

When I trudged into the store, my eye caught a glimpse of some really cute outfits right away. What a surprise! The styles I spotted were fresh, some very trendy. The colors of the clothes, the racks, the tables, and the walls were all so modern - what a nice change from the former dark walls and dim lighting!

The salesperson told me that in the last year, Tristan had been changing their look. First, they dropped the name America and put all the collections under the Tristan banner (remember when Tristan was 'Tristan and Iseut' for women and America was only for men?). Second, they modernized their styles and tried to appeal to a younger crowd.

There's still clothing tailored to the more mature woman. I guess I could say they've got two looks to their newest collection, one more work/conservative look and the other one being more trendy and casual.

<-- They changed their logo too :)

I came out of the store with a green dress (from their summer collection - on sale :) ) and with this nice and happy feeling. I'm happy to have "re-discovered" Tristan especially because it's Canadian and local (head office is in Montreal). They were showcasing their Canadian-made items (on promotion) 2 weeks ago, but I wasn't able to post this in time...

Tristan's newest collection (fall/winter - in stores now) has some really fabulous pieces that are so in line with what's in style now. Check it out at : http://www.tristanstyle.com

Celeb Look of the Week: Mary-Kate Olsen

Mary-Kate Olsen is the look of the week

This dates from a few of months ago, but I just found the photo and thought it was a great look!  Blue and dark purple is in for fall 2009.

To make this look wearable for fall in Montreal, I would add a pair of dark tights and loose high boots.

I love how, by just adding a black studded belt by the MW for H&M collection, she was able to give the simple one-shoulder dress an edge.

I just loved the over-sized vintage sweater she's wearing!

The purse is really cute, it looks like leather and the pattern looks like a close-up of paintbrush strokes. The purse's colors are neutral (orangy-beige and very dark purple/almost black) and so it works with the outfit as a whole.

I usually follow the 3-color rule when I dress: 2 neutrals and one bold color. Mary-Kate has a variation of this as she's wearing fairly neutral colors with the bold blue/purple sweater to add punch.

Any thoughts? Have any other ideas how this look would work for fall in Montreal? Go ahead and post your comments below. Thanks in advance!

Top 5 Essentials for Fall

Sabby V. from 514Streetchic shares her picks of the season:

1. A trenchcoat in a neutral color with great details will get alot of usage in fall.  The "Military" look is in for coats along with "pretty and feminine" details as shown below on Olivia Palermo.

2. A great pair of black patent pumps are exactly what I am looking for to complete any outfit.  They can be worn to work or out on the town with jeans or a great dress. These worn by Anne Hathaway are perfect!

3. Standout bags in bright colors is a purchase I made this season (I invested in a bright purple bag while in Italy).  It helps to brighten all the dark clothing that fall brings.  I am really loving the one that Leighton Meester is wearing in blue suede. Also loving the long strap which is big for Fall too!

4. Great big necklaces are all the rage now.  Multistrand pearls, chains and a mixture of the two is a great choice.  I have actually seen many choices at Forever 21 and happen to be very affordable ( I will be picking one up myself this weekend!).  They are actually so cheap that you can but 2 or 3.

5. Sheath dresses are big for fall  and are great in neutral colors such as grey and black, because they can be paired with evereything. They are very versatile pieces that will get alot of usage. Check out Jessica Alba in her electric blue!
